The 2022 Annual 116th Illinois State Open Checker Tournament will be held Saturday, April 2nd and Sunday, April  3rd, 2022 in Marion, IL. 

Registration at 8:00 a.m. with play beginning at 9:00 a.m. 
 
Venue: Mackie's Pizza, at 2704 Walton Way, Marion, IL 62959.  The Illinois State Checker Association will be providing pizza for meals to all players   Players will need to purchase their own beverages.

 

The Mackie's Pizza is located west of the intersection of Interstate I-57 and IL State Highway 13 (Exit 54).  Travel west on IL 13 about 0.6  miles. Turn left onto Walton Way and follow around to Mackie's Pizza.  It is opposite the Sam's Club. (map).
 
Recommended hotel: Super 8 Motel at 2601 Vernell Road, Marion, IL 62959 (map), phone 618-993-5577.  The Super 8 is located to the left off the first light west of the Interstate.  Ask for special tournament rate.
 
Seven total rounds to be played.   Three move restriction paired by a modified Swiss system.  Entry fee is $10.00

Illinois State Tournament Results:

   On April 2 & 3 the  Illinois State Tournament was held in Marion, IL by the Illinois State Checker Association (ISCA).    Four players attended.  Gene Ellison is the Illinois State Champion and also the Illinois Tournament Champion player and The B Class top Illinois player was Boone Wooden.  Two round robin sequences were played for a total of six games.    A good time was had by everyone. The ISCA is specially thankful for Joe McDaniel generous donation to the prize fund.   Please mark your calendar to the first Saturday in October 1st 2022 for the Illinois 101 Tournament.
